Kokoda Trek Condition Report
We have not had any major dramas with the trek conditions along the Kokoda track during our recent treks except some flooding due to heavy rain and the wet season in March this year. Our transports have been able to move our trekkers between Port Moresby and Owers Corner, and Girua Airport (Popondetta) and Kokoda with no problems at all. The only impediment we may encounter will be the wet crossings along the Popondetta-Kokoda road if it's affected by heavy rain and severe flooding but the weather conditions haven't been too bad since the flooding in the Popondetta area towards the end of 2011 which devastated parts of the province. If crossing is required anywhere along the trek in inclement weather, it will be by some form of a raft constructed by our experienced local guides and porters. This is where their expertise and local knowldege become really handy.
